PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION

SUPPORTING EARLY-CAREER PRACTITIONERS WITH COMPASSION

Compassionate Psychology is now offering professional supervision and is opening a small number of spaces.

My interest is in supporting early‑career practitioners — including psychologists, counsellors, and social workers — with a focus on maintaining personal wellbeing alongside strong professional and ethical practice. I am particularly interested in creating a safe and reflective space where supervisees can think through the emotional and relational aspects of the work, as well as the practical and ethical demands.  Supervision can sometimes evoke unease, with practitioners feeling as though their competence is being assessed. In my practice, I prioritize creating a space that feels safe and supportive — one where both the professional and human aspects of supervisees are welcomed and valued.

My approach to supervision is collaborative, thoughtful, and paced, with an emphasis on developing confidence, professional identity, and sustainability in practice. My work is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion‑Focused Therapy (CFT), and also draws on principles from Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Viktor Frankl’s logotherapy.

I’m offering individual supervision initially, with flexibility around format (in‑person or online). If you’re early in your career and looking for a supportive, reflective and safe space to grow, you’re welcome to get in touch for an informal conversation to see if we might be a good fit.

WHO I WORK WITH

I offer supervision for:

  • Early‑career psychologists
  • Counsellors and social workers or others working in the field of mental health
  • ACC‑registered providers (physical injury)
  • Those wanting to strengthen boundaries, wellbeing, and ethical clarity
  • Practitioners seeking a safe, reflective space to grow in their role

If you’re unsure whether you are a good fit, you’re welcome to enquire.

MY SUPERVISION APPROACH

My supervision style is grounded in:

  • Reflective practice — making space to think deeply about the work
  • Emotional sustainability — supporting practitioners to stay well in demanding roles
  • Cultural humility — acknowledging power, context, and lived experience
  • Ethical clarity — navigating dilemmas with steadiness and transparency
  • Professional identity development — helping practitioners grow into their own voice and style
  • Collaborative learning — supervision as a shared, evolving process

I aim to create a space that is steady, respectful, and spacious enough for honest reflection.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Supervision sessions typically include:

  • Space to reflect on clinical work, emotional load, and relational dynamics
  • Discussion of ethical questions, boundaries, and professional responsibilities
  • Support with cases and therapeutic decision‑making
  • Exploration of practitioner wellbeing and sustainability
  • A collaborative, strengths‑based feedback style
  • Attention to both the “inner world” of the practitioner and the practical realities of the work

We will also establish a supervision agreement that outlines expectations, confidentiality, and goals. Please note, I am not a clinical psychologist and am only able to provide limited supervision around formal diagnostic processes.

ABOUT MY BACKGROUND

With over 10 years of clinical experience, I have worked alongside clients facing a wide range of challenges, and I hold a particular interest in easing suffering and supporting people to find meaning and purpose. I see each client as the expert in their own life, and it is a privilege to journey with them through experiences such as trauma, grief, permanent injury, pain, and relationship struggles. My work is grounded in compassion‑based and acceptance‑based approaches, building on the strengths already present within the person and their world. Because learning is a lifelong process, I am committed to ongoing professional development that enriches both my practice and my own growth.
